Portugal has once again been voted Europe’s leading destination, now four years in a row, at the European Gala Ceremony of the World Travel Awards for 2020.
From north to south, Portugal won 27 European awards: Porto was named Europe’s Leading City Break Destination, Lisbon was named Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination and Algarve was named Europe’s Leading Beach Destination.
“It is with particular pride that we received this award, in this atypical year”, affirmed the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques. “It is yet another proof of international confidence in our destination and an acknowledgment that Portugal’s attributes remain intact and ready to be discovered by all those who wish to visit us, always respecting the rules defined by the authorities. Health, protection and trust are unquestionable synonyms of the national tourist offer”, she added.
For the world edition of these awards the voting has already ended and the results will be known on November 27th.
